Jack lucked out and his dad took him camping with the youth this Friday and Saturday. He had a blast hiking, swimming in the caves, making a fire, roasting marshmallows and potatoes, playing in a tree house in the middle of the jungle and hanging out with the monkey. He came home with a rash all over his arms (he must have grabbed some poisonous plants while looking for fire wood in the dark, but he had a great time and came home in one piece. Friday night during a devotional all of a sudden someone shone a light on Jack's foot and yelled, Watch out! There was a scorpion about the size of my hand about to get Jack's foot. The youth killed it quick and nothing bad happened. Making the fire was his favorite part of the trip and he thinks he looks cool with the rash all over his arm because he thinks he looks like he got burned and it doesn't hurt so he is really tricking people!

Camping Trip

Jack's New Business
For over a month now, Jack has been saying he wanted his own business. We decided finally to help get started. As a family we decided that he could sell homeade "aguas frescas" which are homeade fruit flavored waters. They are very popular here and delicious. He went to a middle school and talked to the principal and asked for permission to sell waters on Wednesday during recess. His first day was last Wednesday where he sold 38 bottles (excluding the one he bought himself.) He was asked for more the next day, and he still has a back order.
After his first success he said, "Mom do you think that if the president tasted my waters, that he would give me a prize for the best waters in the whole world? Maybe the prize since I'm a boy could be a Wii." :) I like the way he thinks. He also mentioned while in the process of squeezing the oranges that having your own business is a lot of work! :) He didn't realize what a big job some people do.
This is what he has to say, "I like my biznis and u wil see it too."
EL TEMPLO

Yesterday we had family home evening and we talked about making our home a temple and about how important the temple is. After FHE Jack asked if he could write in his school journal before going to bed. He hates writing in it, so was I ever surprised this morning when he came into the kitchen for breakfast with his journal open for me to see his journal entry. This is what he wrote...
EL TEMPLO ES MUY ESPESIAL. YO SE QUE EL TEMPLO ES VERDADERA Y YO QIERO IR AL TEMPLO. YO SE QUE US ESPESIAL YO SIENTO EL ESPIRITU SANTO. YO SE QIE ME AMA DIOS.
THE TEMPLE IS VERY SPECIAL. I KNOW THAT THE TEMPLE IS TRUE AND I WANT TO GO TO THE TEMPLE. I KNOW THAT IT IS SPECIAL. I FEEL THE HOLY GHOST. I KNOW GOD LOVES ME.

for mom from jack
My mother's day card message from my son.
For mom;
Happy Mothers day. I love you. I will give you something, but I don't know what. Maybe I'll give you gulry (jewelry), pofium (perfume), and candi (candy).
That card made my whole day. The words on the card won't be meaningful to anyone else but me, but they might bring back memories of when your children made you one of their first cards, or maybe it will make you dream about when you will recieve a card for the first time from your kids. I know that one day my son will understand that this card is so much more important and valuable than any other gift that he could give me. A lot of times we say that it is the thought that counts, but we really are expecting or wanting something specific. I know I'm hoping my hubby does something for me tomorrow (which is when Mother's Day is gonna be celebrated here) but I also know that no matter what I get, it will not be able to make me feel the emotions that this simple card made me feel. I'm not expecting to recieve jewelry or perfume from my son, but just the thought that if he could, he would try and give me the things that he thinks would make me happy. It was such a neat opportunity for me to be able to read one of the first real letters that he wrote me by himself. The card made me feel loved and special. What more could you ask for on Mother's Day?

Mom, does Jesus watch cartoons?
I answered with what I thought to be a good reply. "Well I think he is to busy, honey. He has a lot of work to do." That seemed to satisfy him for a few seconds and then he said...oh, I know that. I just wanted to make sure it was okay, I know Jesus is all spiritual and stuff. He continued. Do you think I will be able to watch cartoons when I die? (Man oh man, how do you answer these questions?) "Well honey, I think you will be busy too!" My 6 year old thought about it a bit and then said, does Jesus have a bedtime? Uh, I'm sure he tries to go to bed as early as he can, I answered. Well, when I live with Jesus, I won't have a bed time okay mom? I won't need to sleep because I will be immortal. I will be able to eat candy everyday and I won't have to brush my teeth!
How much do 6 year olds understand? A lot more than we realize, that's for sure. What would your answer be to these questions?
